Cameron Releases New “Education” Ad
Louisville, Ky. (September 18, 2023) – The Cameron for Governor campaign released a new television ad today, focused on Daniel Cameron’s plan to reverse the historic learning loss inflicted on students by Andy Beshear’s shortsighted decision to shut down schools.
According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and the Kentucky Department of Education, fewer than half of Kentucky students are proficient in math or can read on grade level. Only 29% are proficient in science. Students are also missing school at a historic high. Chronic absenteeism is near 30% since Andy Beshear’s lockdowns.
In order to address these challenges, the Cameron Catch-Up Plan will authorize a fully-funded tutoring program, restore classroom discipline, and surge resources to teachers and classrooms.
“As a result of Beshear’s extensive lockdowns, students are facing generational learning loss,” Daniel Cameron said. “The Cameron Catch-Up Plan is a bold strategy to close the learning gap, improve the classroom environment, and get resources directly to our teachers. Teachers and parents are working incredibly hard to support our students. They need a Governor who has the ideas and ability to do the same.”
Ad script:
“Andy Beshear wants to talk education?
His record? Andy closed down our schools. Regular kids still haven’t recovered. Fewer than half can read or do math at grade level.
I’m Daniel Cameron. As the husband of a teacher, I know we can do better.
The Cameron Catch-Up Plan is about supporting our teachers and getting kids caught up.
I won’t just campaign on education, I’ll get it fixed. Because our teachers and students deserve it.”
